JSON to ER Diagram (Mermaid and DBML)

Turn a JSON sample into an entity-relationship diagram. Every kind of object becomes an entity with its fields and types; a nested object becomes a one-to-one link and an array of objects a one-to-many link. Mermaid renders in GitHub, GitLab and Notion, and DBML opens in dbdiagram.io.

How do I use the JSON to ER diagram?

  1. Paste JSON, such as an API response.
  2. Pick Mermaid or DBML and name the root entity.
  3. Paste the Mermaid code into a ```mermaid block, or the DBML into dbdiagram.io.

What does the JSON to ER diagram do?

  • Mermaid erDiagram with PK on id fields and optional fields marked
  • DBML tables in plural snake_case with keys and refs
  • One-to-one and one-to-many links from nested objects and arrays
  • Keys that aren't valid names are renamed, with the original kept in a comment
