Encrypt and Decrypt Text
Need to send a secret? Seal it with a password or key here, send the result, and the other side opens it here, with any JOSE library, or with openssl in a terminal.
How do I use the Encrypt text?
- Paste the text and pick Encrypt.
- Choose the format and type a password, or leave the shared key empty to make one.
- Send the result; to open it, switch to Decrypt with the same password or key.
What does the Encrypt text do?
- JWE with AES-256-GCM: password (PBES2, 210,000 rounds), shared key or RSA-OAEP-256
- OpenSSL format: openssl enc -aes-256-cbc -pbkdf2 -a
- Opens what OpenSSL and jose make, and they open what it makes
- Makes a new shared key when the box is empty
- Any text, emoji and Hindi included
- Keys and passwords are never saved or shared
Frequently asked questions
- Can I decrypt it without Bracely?
- Yes. OpenSSL format: openssl enc -d -aes-256-cbc -pbkdf2 -a. JWE: any JOSE library; in jose, allow PBES2-HS512+A256KW and raise maxPBES2Count for password-sealed ones.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. Bracely runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste or open leaves your device.
