Parquet Viewer and Parquet to JSON

Parquet files are how Spark, pandas, Polars, DuckDB and data warehouses store tables. Bracely reads them in your browser: drop one and its rows open as JSON, or, for a big file, Big files reads it row group by row group to count rows and columns, filter with jq and download JSON Lines.

How do I use the Parquet viewer?

  1. Drop a .parquet file anywhere in Bracely: up to 50 MB it opens as a JSON array in a new tab.
  2. For a bigger file, or to filter, use Big files: its summary shows the columns and their types, and jq runs on every row.
  3. Download the rows as JSON Lines or a JSON array.

What does the Parquet viewer do?

  • Snappy, gzip, Zstandard, Brotli and LZ4 compression
  • Nested lists, structs and maps as JSON arrays and objects
  • Decimals and 64-bit whole numbers exact to the last digit
  • Timestamps (ms, µs, ns) and dates as ISO text
  • Binary columns as Base64
  • Files of any size, read a row group at a time

Frequently asked questions

Is my Parquet file uploaded?
No. It's read in your browser with hyparquet, an open-source JavaScript Parquet reader, and nothing leaves your device.
Can it write Parquet?
Not yet: Bracely reads Parquet and writes JSON, JSON Lines and the other formats it converts to.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Bracely runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste or open leaves your device.
