MessagePack to JSON

MessagePack is a compact binary JSON used by Redis, Fluentd, SignalR and many RPC and game protocols. Paste it as Base64 or hex, or drop a .msgpack file, to read it as JSON, or write JSON as MessagePack and download the bytes.

How do I use the MessagePack ⇄ JSON?

  1. Paste MessagePack as Base64 or hex, or drop a .msgpack file.
  2. Read it as JSON: several values one after another become a list.
  3. Switch to JSON → MessagePack to encode, and Save to download the .msgpack file.

What does the MessagePack ⇄ JSON do?

  • Every MessagePack type, including bin and ext
  • 64-bit integers exact to the last digit
  • The timestamp extension as ISO time
  • Binary as {"$binary": …} and extensions as {"$ext": …}, which encode back to the same bytes
  • Smallest encoding for each number, like the reference libraries
  • Base64 or hex output, or a .msgpack download

Frequently asked questions

Why is my output smaller than the JSON?
MessagePack writes numbers, booleans and lengths in one to nine bytes and drops quotes, colons and commas, so the same data is usually 15–50% smaller.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Bracely runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste or open leaves your device.
