ENV ⇄ JSON

ENV to JSON Converter

A .env file holds an app's settings as KEY=value lines. Paste one to read it as JSON, the way dotenv reads it, or write JSON settings as a .env file for Docker, Node, Python or your CI.

How do I use the ENV ⇄ JSON?

  1. Paste a .env file, or drop one.
  2. Pick how keys nest (DB__HOST → {"DB": {"HOST": …}}) and whether numbers and true/false become JSON values.
  3. Switch to JSON → .env to write one, then Save to download it.

What does the ENV ⇄ JSON do?

  • Comments, blank lines and export KEY=value
  • 'single quotes' as written, "double quotes" with \n escapes and line breaks
  • Nested keys on __, . or _, as ASP.NET and many config libraries use
  • The same key twice: the last one wins, and it says so
  • JSON → .env joins nested keys into names like DB_HOST
  • Quotes a value only when it needs it

Frequently asked questions

Are my secrets uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the values in your .env file never leave your device.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Bracely runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste or open leaves your device.
