Postman Collection Runner
Open a Postman collection (v2.0 or v2.1) and run its requests from your browser, with its variables, folders, auth and bodies, and check every response with plain rules. No Postman app, no Newman, no account: nothing to install.
Example: an exported collection with a folder and auth
A collection with an Orders folder and bearer auth for the whole collection. With these responses, creating the order passes, and getting it fails one check because the status is still pending:

How do I use the Postman collection runner?
- Export the collection from Postman (Collection v2.1) and paste or drop the .json file.
- Write checks, one per line, such as status 2xx or [Create order] $.id exists.
- Press Run to send the requests in order; read the report or save it as JUnit XML.
What does the Postman collection runner do?
- Folders, {{variables}}, auth and the common pm.test assertions from the collection
- Raw JSON and form bodies sent as written
- Stop at the first failure, or keep going and see them all
When to use the Postman collection runner
A Postman collection already describes your API: every request, its folder, address, headers, auth and body. Running it usually needs the Postman app or Newman on the command line. Here the collection runs in your browser: paste or drop the exported .json and press Run, which is handy on a machine without Postman, or to share a quick check with someone who doesn't use it.
Bracely reads collections in the v2.0 and v2.1 formats. {{variables}} come from the collection, folders become part of each request's name, and bearer, Basic and API key auth, set on a request, a folder or the whole collection, are added to the requests. Raw bodies are sent as written and form bodies as name=value pairs; file uploads (form-data) are skipped and reported. The collection's own pm.test scripts run too, when they use the common assertions; checks of your own are plain lines, short and easy to read.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my collection's pm.test scripts run?
- The common ones are. pm.response.to.have.status(…), pm.expect(…) on the status, time, headers, text or JSON body with eql, include, above, below, a, exist, lengthOf, match and oneOf become checks, from the request, its folders and the collection. pm.environment.set("token", json.token) fills {{token}} in the requests after it, so a login then a call with its token works. A test with anything else in it, such as a loop, is listed as not run rather than passed: add it as a line in the second box.
- Why does a request say it couldn't be reached?
- Either the address is wrong, or the API doesn't allow requests from other websites (CORS), which the browser can't tell apart. Check the address, and that {{variables}} were filled in: the runner lists any it couldn't fill.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. Bracely runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste or open leaves your device.
